Opening Keynote Session: ROOTBOUND

Mary Beth Gustitus, Mile One Coaching

Have you ever noticed how the people who care for others… are often the last ones to check in on themselves?

In the home medical equipment industry, the work you do truly matters. You support patients and families in vulnerable seasons. You juggle expectations, moving parts, compliance, coordination, and constant change - all while trying to deliver exceptional care. That’s meaningful work. And meaningful work can be heavy.

Sometimes, even the most dedicated professionals begin to feel “rootbound” - like a plant that’s outgrown its container. Capable and composed on the outside… but on the inside feeling stuck, overwhelmed and quietly asking: When was the last time I actually had room to breathe…let alone grow?

After this keynote, participants will be able to:

    • Recognize early signs of emotional fatigue and “rootbound” patterns in themselves and their teams.
    • Identify internal and external pressures that quietly contribute to burnout and stalled growth.
    • Apply MB’s 5-Step Repotting Process to create clarity and renewed momentum.
    • Strengthen resilience and reconnect to the purpose behind their work.

In this session, MB brings humor, honesty, and powerful storytelling to a conversation many professionals are craving. She reframes burnout, normalizes emotional fatigue, and offers practical mindset shifts that help high-responsibility leaders move from survival mode back to intentional growth.

You won’t want to miss it!

Elevating Your Partnerships with Distributors and Manufacturers

Amanda Smithey, McKesson Medical-Surgical

Working with distributors and manufacturers is a necessity, but do you ever stop to evaluate those relationships? Outside of the pricing and supply component, what more can you leverage from these relationships? This session will explore the in's and out's of distribution and manufacturing from defining yourself as a partner to pricing 101 to developing an impactful RFP. Restructuring relationships with distributors and manufacturers can be one of the many catalysts to streamlining operations and a solid strategy for growth.

Why Are You Like That? (And Why Am I Like This?) - The Power of DISC

Mary Beth "MB" Gustitus, Mile One Coaching

Ever leave a conversation thinking… What just happened?

Or wonder why one person wants it short, fast, and to the point… while another needs context, collaboration, and a little reassurance before moving forward?

We’ve all thought it.

“Why are you like that?” And if we’re honest… “Why am I like this?”

Here’s the truth:

It’s not attitude. It’s not intelligence. It’s not competence.

It’s wiring.

In this high-energy, interactive 60-minute breakout session, we’ll use the DISC Behavioral framework to uncover how different people naturally communicate, make decisions, respond to pressure, and navigate change. Whether you’re leading a team, collaborating across departments, or interacting with patients, families, and partners, understanding behavioral styles changes everything.

This session is practical, engaging, and immediately useful - no psychology textbook required.

Silent Killers of the HME Revenue Cycle: How to Protect Margins and Strengthen Operations

Ronda Buhrmester, Prochant

This session uncovers the hidden “silent killers” quietly eroding margins and destabilizing cash flow for HME providers. Drawing on real-world insights from Prochant’s VP of Client Experience, Ronda, the presentation reveals how manual intake processes, inconsistent eligibility verification and stalled authorizations create costly revenue leaks and operational drag.

Attendees will learn how documented, payer-specific workflows, performance scorecards and stronger team accountability can close these gaps and drive measurable improvement. The session also explores how automation and AI reduce manual effort, improve accuracy and redirect staff toward higher-value work.

By equipping teams with the right technology, clear processes and shared accountability, HME providers can protect margins, accelerate order velocity and build a more resilient, future-ready revenue cycle.

Closing the Communication Gap: Modernizing Engagement to Boost Capture Resupply & Increase Patient Adherence

Kyle Neese, ACU-Serve; Derrick Stark, MiraVista

Resupply underperformance isn’t a technology deficit - it’s a communication and education gap disguised as an operational issue. Even with strong tools available in the market, fragmented adoption and outdated outreach tactics continue to depress success rates, weaken adherence, and dilute long-term recurring revenue. This session breaks down the specific friction points that disrupt the patient journey and presents a modern engagement model built around clear messaging, disciplined workflow design, and structured escalation. Attendees will walk away with a tactical, leadership-ready blueprint that can be deployed immediately, regardless of organizational size or existing technology.

A Contingency-First Approach to Medicare Accreditation

Andrea Stark, MiraVista

It’s a question on almost every DME supplier’s mind. And while Medicare clarified that suppliers do not need to renew credentials until the current accreditation period expires, external circumstances will force many to do so much sooner.  Medicare will revoke billing privileges for suppliers that miss accreditation deadlines … even if through no fault of their own.  Accreditation will be anything but predictable, and suppliers need a contingency plan.

In this session, Andrea:

      • Explains routine business transactions that accelerate the accreditation renewal timeline.
      • Provides a 7-point contingency plan if current accrediting organizations cannot meet revalidation deadlines.
      • Explores when voluntary PTAN terminations make sense to protect Medicare billing privileges.

11:30a - 12:30p

Different Paths, Same Pressures: The DME Operator Roundtable

Tony Saraiva, GenHealth.ai

An interactive panel bringing together DME operators with varying approaches-those embracing automation, those relying on traditional processes, and a BPO partner-- to discuss how they are navigating todays biggest industry challenges. Topics include: staffing shortages, competitive bidding, rising admin burden, new accreditation requirements, & more. Panelists can share candid insights on what’s working, what’s not, and how different operational strategies are shaping the future of DME.

11:30a - 12:30p

Diversifying Payor Mix Through New Product Categories

JJ Pistoor, Geriatric Medical

For today’s DME providers, relying too heavily on a single payor - especially Medicaid or Medicare alone, creates vulnerability in an environment where regulations, utilization patterns, and competitive dynamics can shift overnight. The most resilient providers are intentionally broadening their payor mix by adding new product categories that reach different patient populations, referral sources, and reimbursement pathways.

This session will focus on how DME providers can successfully launch and scale new categories from traditional Medicaid-driven staples like incontinence and nutritionals, to rapidly growing Medicare categories such as Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) - using structured marketing and customer-education strategies.

In this session, we’ll examine how to use marketing to ignite adoption, communicate value, and open new lines of business within your existing DME footprint. Attendees will gain insight into how Geriatric Medical and DDP Medical Supply help providers accelerate category expansion with turnkey sales and marketing support: referral starter kits, patient-friendly education materials, digital assets, co-branding opportunities, launch playbooks, and ongoing category development resources.
