The Home Medical Equipment and Services Association of New England (HOMES), is hosting a public Virtual Townhall to discuss concerning issues confronting HME stakeholders in the state of Connecticut. The meeting will beheld on August 20, 2024 from 3:00 – 4:00 (EST).

All concerned HME stakeholders are welcome to participate.  HOMES membership is not required.

During the meeting, HOMES leadership will review our ongoing discussions with both the state Medicaid program and CT legislators. We will share the direction we have received from both and our suggestions for strategy moving forward. We will also discuss how individual stakeholders can help and share some best practices for legislative outreach and engagement.

Meeting Topics:

  • CT Medicaid Reimbursement: The vast majority of DME HCPCS codes have not received an increase in more than a decade. In addition the majority of high utilization HCPCS codes have had their reimbursement rates reduced at least once if not twice in this time period.
  • Managed Care: Members of the CT legislature have recently shared with HOMES that CT is considering a return to managed care. This was discussed at the Council on Medical Assistance Program Oversight (MAPOC) meeting on May 10, 2024 - Click here for the meeting summary and scroll to page 2. We strongly encourage you to start attending these virtual meetings. You can email David Kaplan (david.kaplan@cga.ct.gov) to request the Zoom meeting information. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, July 14th.
  • Effective Advocacy: Best Practices for Connecting with State Legislators: Billy Fredericks, HOMES Member and Former Deputy Chief of Staff for a Massachusetts State Senator will briefly review strategies and best practices for effectively communicating and building relationships with your state legislators.
  • How to Get Involved - "Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart": Learn how your active participation in our collective efforts can influence positive legislative changes for home medical equipment providers in Connecticut!

It is imperative that the HME community come together to voice our opinions to the CT legislature and Medicaid leadership, and we encourage all stakeholders to join us for this important Townhall meeting.
